Danny Balena, known across the industry as TattooDanny, was born on Long Island, New York, where graffiti walls became his first canvases and hip hop his soundtrack. From those early days, he developed a raw artistic voice that evolved into precision and mastery behind the tattoo machine.
By 1998, Danny had transformed that street born creativity into professional tattooing, and in 2004 he founded MobInk Tattoos, now a recognized name synonymous with elite craftsmanship, street credibility, and international reach.
A true technician of the craft, Danny can build and break down a traditional tattoo machine by hand. His line work is surgical, his shading smooth and cinematic, and his color work explosive but controlled, ink that breathes life into skin. His cover up game is phenomenal, often turning what others call “impossible” into full blown reinventions. Danny specializes in black and grey realism, but when he brings color, it’s with the same deliberate power you’d expect from an artist who knows how to turn movement into emotion.
Over three decades, Danny has tattooed an A list roster that spans hip hop, sports, entertainment, and art. His needle has touched legends including Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, The Game, Kodak Black, Lloyd Banks, Fabolous, along with Grammy winning producer Scott Storch. His work extends beyond artists, he’s tattooed elite private security teams and entourages who move with top tier celebrities, earning a reputation built on discretion, loyalty, and respect. Danny’s reach also includes the sports world, having inked stars such as Jeremy Shockey, Allen Iverson, Udonis Haslem, Pacman Jones, and Erik Gudbranson.
His talent has taken him on tour with G Unit, joining 50 Cent across multiple domestic and international runs, three, 50 city tours and one spanning 13 European countries. His art has traveled on tour buses, through arenas, backstage green rooms, and VIP suites, wherever culture moves, MobInk has been there.
His artistry goes far beyond the machine. Danny is also a fine art creator and designer, producing custom works that blend street realism with emotional depth. He’s composed original pieces for Scott Storch, the “Glow Drip of Mozart”, the latter featuring a visual masterpiece that weaves Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E.” into the actual sheet music design. His reinterpretation of Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss” transforms the classical work into a monochrome, fluid, street art expressionist statement, bold, soulful, and unmistakably his own.
Danny’s dedication to his craft extends beyond his own chair. He attends tattoo conventions across the country, sometimes to compete, sometimes to support fellow artists and colleagues, always representing MobInk with the same passion and professionalism that built his brand. His work and persona have been featured in InkJunkeys: The Tattoo Industry Magazine, and he earned “Best Tattoo Shop” in 2007 from City Link Magazine. His profile rose further when he was featured tattooing Busta Rhymes in a major article titled “Miami Tattoo Artist Inks the Hip Hop Stars.”
In 2025, TattooDanny joined the Breezy Bowl, tattooing performers, entourages, and staff, even inking a Labubu collectible, proving that his creativity knows no limits. His empire now extends into fashion and digital art, with MobInk Merch, a streetwear line featuring collections like the “Money Line Drip” capsule, and exclusive NFT drops such as The Sicilian Message, merging Danny’s artistic roots with futuristic tech. But beyond the accolades, ink, and empire, Danny’s proudest creation is his daughter, the true heartbeat behind every project.
